Once we receive the blessing of God’s grace the best way for us to benefit others is to let them know about God’s grace.
Oh, we can give clothing and food. We can be hospitable. We can visit the sick and even those in prison. But the greatest blessing we can bestow on others is to do what we can to help them learn about God’s grace.
When we examine the acts of the first century Christians it is very clear that sharing the gospel was their main concern.
Oh, it was important for them to gather together and learn from the apostles as well as take the Lord’s Supper and fellowship and pray and be chartable. But the one thing that was their number one priority was letting others know about Jesus and His saving grace.
It is evident that the early disciples understood that a huge part of their relationship with Jesus was sharing their joy of salvation with others so they could enjoy a similar relationship with Jesus through the gift of God’s grace.
Before God’s grace was available this wasn’t the case. There was actually a wall that separated people from God and each other, but Jesus tore that wall down. Once Jesus did this He provided a bridge for everyone to cross over so they could have a relationship with God and all those who desired to be godly.
“In Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
For He Himself is our peace, who has made us both one and broken down in His flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.
And He came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.” Ephesians 2:13-17
Can you think of any information more beneficial or any message more golden than that of PEACE? Most of you have probably seen the sign that reads “No Jesus No Peace—Know Jesus, know Peace.” With peace being a rare find for so many, the early believers who had discovered it wanted to share the source of their peace with everyone they could. They did this so they could let others know about Jesus. Their strong desire was for everyone to know about God’s grace and love so they could have PEACE now and forever.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
This glorious passage is preserved by God to capture the hearts of humanity with God’s great gift of salvation. Once this message about God’s amazing grace is accepted and believed. Those who know it will want to share it with others. This is exactly what the early disciples did. “Those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.” Acts 8:4
