What does it mean to act with grace?

I asked Google this question and the answer it gave was to be someone who moves with grace. To move in a smooth, controlled, and attractive way with elegance, ease, finesse, and poise.

To have a behavior that is polite and well-mannered.

After reading this I thought of Colossians 4:5-6 “Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”

After reading this I thought of  Ephesians 5:15-17 “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

Again my thoughts took me to Proverbs 15:21 “Folly is a joy to him who lacks sense, but a man of understanding walks straight ahead.”

Another passage I thought of was Proverbs 10:23 “Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.”

As I continued to think about the question, “What does it mean to act with grace?” My thoughts took me again to Colossians 3:12-17 “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as then Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”

So what does it mean to act with grace?

It means to think about our thoughts.

It means to think about what we say.

It means to think about other people.

It means to think about our use of time.

It means to think about caring about others.

It means to think about doing good not evil.

It means to think about our overall conduct.

It means to think about the right and the wrong.

It means to think about being one of God’s children.

It means to think about being more and more like Jesus.

It means to think about forgiveness and forgiving others.

It means to think about love and how we can be more loving.
