God’s word does!
The things written in the Old Testament point ahead to Jesus and the things written in the New Testament confirm the things written about Jesus.
Abraham rejoiced to see the day of Jesus. John 8:56
Moses wrote about Jesus. Deuteronomy 18:15-19; John 5:46; Acts 3:22-23
Samuel and all the prophets who followed him spoke about the days of Jesus. Acts 3:24
David wrote about Jesus and called Him, “Lord.” Psalm 110:1; Matthew 22:44; Acts 2:34
Jesus came to fulfill what was written by the prophets. Matthew 1:22
Jesus “Took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished.”
Luke 18:31
Jesus told His disciples “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” Luke 24:44
Jesus quoted from the books of the Old Testament.
Jesus taught on creation, marriage, Noah and the flood, Abraham, Lot and his wife, Sodom and Gomorrah, Moses, The exodus, The Law, The brazen serpent, David, Solomon, The queen of Sheba, Elijah and the widow of Sarepta, Naaman, Zechariah and much more.
Jesus would ask “Have you not read?” Matthew 12:3, 19:4, 21:42, 22:31
Jesus would say “You do wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.” Matthew 22:29
Jesus would often say “It is written.” Matthew 4:4, 7, 10
Jesus would say “The Scriptures cannot be broken.” John 10:35.
Jesus, final words written in the book of Revelation clearly reveal how He feels about those who would tamper with God’s written word. “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of this book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” Revelation 22:18-19
THE WORD OF GOD WAS WRITTEN WITH PURPOSE.
“These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” John 20:30-31
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the words of Christ.” Romans 10:17
“Whatever was written in former days was written for our instructions, that through endurance and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Romans 15:4
“We are writing these things so that your joy may be complete.” 1 John 1:4
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
“And that Word became flesh and dwelt among us…” and we call Him JESUS! John 1:1, 14
