In 1933 at the “City of Tomorrow” exhibit in Chicago, Illinois architects designed a miniature future city and as visitors observed they became aware of a shocking discovery that was missing from this future city. It had No churches! When asked why? They were told by the project managers, “That they saw no need for churches in the future.”

Can you imagine a time or place where there will be no need or place for the church?

How sad! The designers had a concept that the church was merely earthly and temporary and people would reject its need.

Sadly many have view the church this way. They only think of the church as a building with tall steeples and are ignorant of the true nature of the church. They think of it as a place that really unnecessary.

IS THE CHURCH A DWINDLING PAST TIME?

It is unfortunate but many think this because they exchange the truth for a lie. Instead of heeding God’s word they heed their statistics and surveys and let society dictate their conclusions instead of the Holy Scriptures that teach about Jesus coming to build His church.

The scriptures do not teach about a church that is a dwindling past time! The scriptures teach that Jesus came to His church and that it will never end no matter what people believe or think. 2 Samuel 7:12-16, Daniel 2:44; Luke 1:26-38, Matthew 16:17-19

Jesus promised to, “Build His Church” and that “The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” He said this referring to His EKKLESIA. This word is a compound of two segments: “EK”, a preposition meaning “Out Of”, and a verb, “KALEO”, signifying “To Call”—together, the word literally means, “TO CALL OUT”.

The exhibit in 1933 at the “City of Tomorrow” in Chicago, Illinois failed to consider the words of Jesus. The church that Jesus came to build isn’t manmade and God’s word along with history proves this great truth. Mark 9:1, Acts 1:6-8, 2:1-4, 2:37-47, 8:1-4

Like a mighty army the church that Jesus built marches on and on! It does so because it is built on the “ROCK” (Jesus Christ) who is the foundation of the church. 1 Corinthians 3:10-11

He is the “Chief cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In Him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Holy Spirit.” Ephesians 3:19-22

THE CHURCH OF CHRIST ISN’T A PASSING FAD?

What about your relationship with Christ in His church?

Is it merely a passing fad or are you one of His committed building blocks?
