On any given day: 9 children are abused

72 babies die before their first one month birthday

3,288 children run away from home

4,450 babies are aborted

10 million school age children are latchkey kids

15 million children live without having daily contact with their fathers

What can we do to change these sad statistics? We can refuse to sit idle! We can speak out for those who are unable to speak! We can stand up for the rights of those who are not able or who are strong enough to stand up for themselves. We can hold to the truths taught in God’s holy word and let others know that, “Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.” Psalm 127:3 We can give an hour of our time today following our morning worship and take part in the annual Life Chain!

Little children are often very innocent and sweet in their questions and comments. If you have scars that are visible or a band aid that they can see they will ask with concern how you encountered them. If your hair is graying and they notice that you have age spots or wrinkles they will enquire about the aging process. They have a natural way of saying sweet things like you smell nice, your pretty, and I love you. What would our world be like if there weren’t any little children? It would be a dreadful place. But, sadly and treacherously there are those who would like to rid our nation and the world of these defenseless and innocent blessings. So, what can we do to stop them? We can send letters to them and express our disapproval. We can vote against their agenda by voting for those who will defend the rights of the children. We can give an hour of our time today following our morning worship and stand up with others who love children and hate the murder of thousands of innocent and sweet babies every day.

When Benjamin Franklin discovered a new concept of electricity with his famous kite and key flight, it was reported that an onlooker asked Mr. Franklin as he was pulling the kite down, “But what good is it?” To this Benjamin Franklin responded, “What good is a baby?”

Mother Eve would respond that a baby is a reminder of the gift of life. Genesis 4:1

David would point out that babes remind us of how fearfully and wonderfully we all have been made. Psalms 139:14

Jesus would point us to a child and acknowledge that they are the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:1-4

What a tragedy it is that some consider children as insignificant and that do abandon, abort, abuse and neglect them. This is unacceptable for every believer and we can show our distain today by taking part in the “Life Chain” following our morning worship. We can also answer Mr. Franklin’s question and let all know that babies and all children are precious!
