WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A CHRISTIAN?
For me, a crowning characteristic of a Christian is COMPASSION as clearly demonstrated by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Matthew 9:35-36
For me, another characteristic of a Christian that is clearly taught by Jesus is that of being HUMBLE. Matthew 18:1-4; 23:12
For me, a characteristic of a Christian that is a must is the willingness to REPENT. Jesus said, “Unless you repent, you will likewise perish.” Luke 13:3 The first thing Peter told those on Pentecost who asked, “What shall we do” was to, “Repent.” Acts 2:38 Initially when we become a Christian we should REPENT but we can also learn from the situation of Simon in Acts 8:14-24 that we should be willing to REPENT at all times if we violate God’s plan for us as Christians.
For me, a vital characteristic of being a Christian is to be “IMITATORS…OF CHRIST.”
For me, valuable characteristic of being a Christian is to be “STEADFAST, IMMOVABLE, ALWAYS ABOUNDING IN THE WORK OF THE LORD.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
For me, a characteristic of being a Christian that should standout in every Christian’s life is that of TRUTHFULNESS. All Christians should “Walk the Talk.” The one thing that Jesus despised more than anything in His personal ministry was hypocrisy. Matthew 23:1-36 When Jesus gave His condemning message against “The scribes and Pharisees” He instructed His disciples “Practice and observe whatever they tell you—but not what they do. For they preach, but do not practice.” Matthew 23:3 A good way to avoid this lifestyle is to make it a point that “Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17
For me, a very important characteristic for every Christian is “INTEGRITY.” Psalm 7:8, 25:21, 26:1, 11, 41:12; Proverbs 11:3, 19:1, 20:7
For me, another very important characteristic of a Christian is to be “ATTENTIVE” to the will and wisdom of God. Proverbs 2:1-15
For me, one of the biggest factors of one obtaining the characteristic of a Christian is our personal desire to live a NEW life for Christ. Romans 6:1-4, 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 5:7; Ephesians 4:17-24; Colossians 3:1-17; 1 Peter 2:1-3
