MAKING ONE’S SELF A SERVANT.
Who is going to run to the front of the line?
Who is going to yell “Hip, Hip, Hooray I’m a servant”?
Who is going to willingly like being the servant of someone else?
That’s what Jesus is asking us to do, He’s asking us to be God’s servants.
He’s asking us to replace our desires and passions with those that God has for us.
He’s asking us to submit and surrender ourselves to God’s plan for us just as He did.
Is He asking too much?
Most will say “YES”!
Most will think that this request is absolutely crazy.
Most will wonder who God thinks He is suggesting such a thing.
What about you, what do you think?
Is God asking too much?
Is God crazy for making this request?
Does it cause you to wonder who God thinks He is for suggesting such a thing?
When it comes to being a servant what are some things that servants have been asked to do?
Servants have been asked to do chores without being compensated.
Servants have been asked to attend school for years to prepare for a life of work.
Servants have been asked to spend hours away from home and loved ones while on the job.
Servants have been asked to up root and move to distant places to serve their occupations.
Servants have been asked to do a lot of things for their physical life and physical rewards.
When you compare the two is God asking too much when He is offering His servants His blessings now and eternal life in heaven?
Jesus said: “Whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?” Matthew 16:25-26
