WISE OR FOOLISH, CONSIDER THE DIFFERENCE.

When you think about the “Wise Man” what comes to mind?

When you think about the “Foolish Man” what comes to mind?

Consider what the preacher of Proverbs had to say about both.

“The wise will inherit honor, but fools get disgrace.” Proverbs 3:35

“A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.” Proverbs 10:1, 15:20

“The wise of heart will receive commandments, but a babbling fool will come to ruin.” Proverbs 10:8

“Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.” Proverbs 10:23

“The fool will be servant to the wise…” Proverbs 11:29

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.” Proverbs 12:15

“In everything the prudent/wise acts with knowledge, but a fool flaunts his folly.” Proverbs 13:16

“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” Proverbs 13:20

“By the mouth of a fool comes a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will preserve them.” Proverbs 14:3

“One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless.” Proverbs 14:16

“The crown of the wise is their wealth, but the folly of fools brings folly.” Proverbs 14:24

“The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly.” Proverbs 15:2

”A fool despises his father’s instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent/wise.” Proverbs 15:5

“The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools.” Proverbs 15:7

“Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man’s dwelling, but a foolish man devours it.” Proverbs 21:20

“A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.” Proverbs 29”11

Jesus shows us the major difference in His Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 7:24-27

Consider the things that made or set the “Wise Man” and “Foolish Man” apart.

The “Wise Man” is honorable and brings gladness to others. He receives commandments and has pleasure in understanding, He becomes a master. He listens to advice. He gains knowledge. He becomes wise. He avoids punishment. He exercises caution and turns away from evil. He obtains wealth. He offers sound speech. He accepts reproof. He shares knowledge. He has accumulated a nest egg. He controls his temperament.

The “Foolish Man” is disgraceful and brings sorrow to others. He does not heed commandments, but babble. He laughs at wrong doing. He is a servant. He thinks he knows it all, but his life reveals that he has no knowledge. He is a fool. He has to be punished. He lives recklessly and often in poverty. He has no nest egg, but must rely on others to provide for him. He cannot control his temperament.

It’s obvious the “Wise Man” received God’s commandments and obeyed them building his house the Rock. Matthew 7:24

It is also obvious the “Foolish Man” lived a life of “FOLLY” who else would build their house on sand? Matthew 7:26

In summary the “Wise Man” accepted his accountability and acted accordingly and when the storms of life came he stood firm, but “Foolish Man” on the other hand did not and when the storms of life came his life collapsed.
