Don’s Delivery: PREDICTIONS JESUS FULFILLED!

It has been estimated that Jesus fulfilled hundreds of predictions
regarding the Messiah/Savior prophesied about in the Old Testament. In
our first lesson we pointed out that God planned for Him to come and
be mankind’s redeemer before the foundation of the world was laid. 1
Peter 1:18-20 It was also planned for Him to be the “Seed of Woman.”
Genesis 3:14-15; Galatians 4:4 Another prophecy we addressed in our
previous article is that His was in the genealogy of Abraham and
David. Genesis 22:18; 2 Samuel 7:12-13; Matthew 1:1

In this lesson we are going to reveal more of the Old Testament
predictions that Jesus fulfilled. The first will address His herald.
Isaiah 40:3 states, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
prepare the way of the Lord; make straight a highway for God.” Malachi
3:1 proclaimed, “Behold, I will send My messenger, and he will prepare
the way before Me.” Both predictions are fulfilled with John the
Baptist. Matthew 3:1-3; Mark 1:1-3; Luke 3:1-6; John 1:19-23, 1:29-34
John was sent to point out the true Savior, Jesus Christ. “John saw
Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes
away the sin of the world.” John went on to say, “This is He of whom I
said, ’After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was
before me.” He also said, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven
like a dove, and He remained upon Him. I did not know Him, but He who
sent me to baptize with water said to me, ’Upon whom you see the
Spirit descending and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with
the Holy Spirit.” And I have seen and testified that this is the Son
of God.” “John stood with two of his disciples, and looking at Jesus
as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God!” John 1:35-36

John’s part in God’s plan was to identify the One who would save the
world from sin and the One who he indentified was Jesus. John
fulfilled his purpose and soon his life would be ended in a cruel way
and his disciples would diminish. Many of them would become the
disciples of Jesus. “Two disciples heard him (John) speak, and they
followed Jesus.” John 1:37 One was Andrew the brother of Simon/Peter
and the other one was Philip the friend of Nathaniel. Both of these
men told others, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated the
Christ)…Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” John 1:41, 45
