“How much is that doggy in the window…?”
What are you willing to spend on your doggy?
I don’t want you to think that I am not fond of dogs, but I do have my
limits. I’ll admit that I wouldn’t think of paying a lot for a dog.
When we had dogs they were usually bought from the animal shelter or
they were strays that wondered into our life. Once we got them we
would care for them, but we had our limits.
On the other hand I know of some, who in my estimation, spend far to
much on their dogs. First off there are those who spend hundreds even
thousands of dollars for a dog. Second there are those who in addition
to the basic needs for the dog provide them with very costly and
elaborate living conditions. Third there are those who pay more for
the training of their dog then others do for the upbringing of their
children. Fourth there are those who make sure their dogs will be
provided for even when they are gone. Yes, there are those who leave
their dogs inheritances and if their dog should pass away first they
have made funeral arrangements and have even purchased cemetery plots
for their dogs.
The purpose of this article is not to get all the dog lovers upset
with me and it is not my intention to dictate my limits regarding the
amount I would spend on a dog on others.
The real purpose of this article is to get us to consider HOW MUCH
people are willing to spend on a mere animal in comparison to their
relationship with God.
HOW MUCH, are you as a believer in Christ willing to spend on your
relationship with God? Matthew 16:24-28
